The Project

In Marina di Pisa, where Arno’s mouth meets the Thyrrhenian Sea, in the ex-Motofides area, in the Park of San Rossore, a tourist port is rising , surrounded by vegetation, houses, business and service areas: a privileged place where the Park, the Thyrrhenian Sea and Arno’s water, Marina di Pisa’s orderly building and the spontaneous one of the river bank flow into. Meeting place of fresh and salty water where it’s possible to rediscover the pleasure of watching nature, walking, having a break and talking.

The intervention of environmental advancement, which covers a surface of more than 210,000 square meters and includes municipal and third-parties areas, is a strong alternative to the unused factory whose production has been stopped in the last part of the eighties.
During the years, the project has had a long and lucrative refinement, it has been object of an attentive programme, shared by all public subjects involved in the territory planning and protection, thanks to its location, river mouth inside the natural Park and dimension.
The project group, made up of the Studio Isola of Torino, Studio 3C+T and Modimar of Roma, together with the property have been capable of interpreting provided instructions and places beauty, and then transferring them in a project of high quality and respect for the territory and its culture.

Other goals of the area transformation, in addition to the urban advancement of that side of Marina, aim to improve the tourist offer of the Pisan coast and extend the Park fruition. The project has significant dimensions, also in relation with activities influenced by the tourist port and the development apportunities offered by the intervention.
For Marina and Pisa this means: trade and commercial business revitalization, promotion of Arno’s nautical area, integration of sports-recreational services, renovation of the town maritime image.

Today, the urbanistic transformation procedure has been concluded positively and the building promotion for obtaining the building Licence is on. The port building Licence has been taken out on April 19th, 2010, while the request for constructing buildings in via Barbolani has been delivered at the end of the same month.
At the same time a yard has been set up: demolitions and drainages are being completed. The new road system by the area has been completed.
The contract for the port works realization has been given to the C.M.C. of Ravenna.
